How to Calculate Your Complete Numerology Chart Step by Step

A practical guide to calculating the main numbers in your numerology chart: Life Path, Expression, Soul, Personality, Personal Year, and more.

Numerology works on a simple principle: everything can be reduced to a number from 1 to 9 (with exceptions for Master Numbers). To build your complete chart you need two sources of information: your date of birth and your full name as it appears on your birth certificate.

Here's how to calculate the main numbers.

The Conversion Table (Pythagorean System)

To convert letters to numbers, use the following table:

1: A, J, S
2: B, K, T
3: C, L, U
4: D, M, V
5: E, N, W
6: F, O, X
7: G, P, Y
8: H, Q, Z
9: I, R

1. Life Path Number

Source: complete date of birth.

How: add all digits of your birth date. If the result is greater than 9, keep adding until you reach a single digit — unless you get 11, 22, or 33 (Master Numbers, which are not reduced).

Example: March 15, 1990 (15/03/1990)

Day: 1 + 5 = 6
Month: 3 = 3
Year: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1
Total: 6 + 3 + 1 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

Life Path: 1

2. Expression Number (or Destiny Number)

Source: full name (first name + surnames) on the birth certificate.

How: convert each letter to its numerical value, sum all digits, and reduce.

Example: JOHN MICHAEL SMITH

J=1, O=6, H=8, N=5 → 1+6+8+5=20 → 2+0=2
M=4, I=9, C=3, H=8, A=1, E=5, L=3 → 4+9+3+8+1+5+3=33 (Master Number, not reduced)
S=1, M=4, I=9, T=2, H=8 → 1+4+9+2+8=24 → 2+4=6

Total: 2 + 33 + 6 = 41 → 4+1 = 5

Expression Number: 5

3. Soul Urge Number (Heart's Desire)

Source: only the vowels of the full name (A, E, I, O, U).

How: convert only vowels to numbers and reduce.

This number reveals your deepest motivation, what your soul truly craves — often invisible to others but the driving force behind your choices.

4. Personality Number

Source: only the consonants of the full name.

How: convert only consonants and reduce.

This number represents the mask the world sees before knowing you deeply — your outer impression, first impression, and social presentation.

5. Personal Year Number

Source: birth day + birth month + current year.

How: add the day and month of birth with the current year and reduce.

Example: born March 15, year 2026

1 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

Personal Year in 2026: 1 — the beginning of a new 9-year cycle.

The Personal Year changes each year around your birthday. The cycle runs from 1 (new beginnings) to 9 (closure and release), then restarts.

6. Chaldean Numerology

The Chaldean system uses a different table from the Pythagorean, where numbers run from 1 to 8 (9 is considered sacred and assigned to no letter). The Chaldean table reflects sound vibrations and is particularly valued for analyzing the name you use daily (not necessarily the birth certificate name).

1: A, I, J, Q, Y
2: B, K, R
3: C, G, L, S
4: D, M, T
5: E, H, N, X
6: U, V, W
7: O, Z
8: F, P

7. Lo Shu Grid (Psychomatrix)

The Lo Shu grid takes your birth date and places each digit in a 3×3 grid. The numbers present, absent, and repeated reveal energetic patterns, innate strengths, and areas for development.

The Limits of Manual Calculation

As you've seen, calculating a complete chart with the 14 systems Numerya analyzes — including karmic numbers, master numbers, Tantric/Vedic numbers, karmic lessons, and temporal cycles — requires dozens of operations. A single error in a letter or digit can change the result of several numbers.

That's why Numerya exists: enter your name and birth date once, and the app automatically calculates all systems, presents them with their psycho-spiritual interpretations, and lets you explore them with AI guidance.
